FirstMet.com has over 30 million users and a wonderful mobile app. Registration is 100% free and the site has a shocking number of success stories, which sets a good precedent for you users may succeed. FirstMet.com is one of the largest dating sites in the world, and its easy to see why. Great range of userbase and great communication tools, it seems like a pretty good start.

Like many of its competitors, FirstMet.com has many of the same features. For first contacting someone and deciding whether you want to take things forward you have the email function. There is also a chat function so you can have a more immediate conversation with someone and get to know them better. What the site lacks is a video chat function, which would logically be the next step before meeting someone. Even without that, the communications systems are pretty good.

FirstMet.com does pretty well when it comes to the matching system, but it’s not the best we’ve seen. What the dating site lacks is a personality test. These are usually really helpful in matching people on things other than purely interests. Despite that, they offer some other great options instead. Users can search by profile criteria and they can also view who’s watched their profile. Both of these are helpful to find someone you will hit it off with. Additionally, users can block other users, which is key to online safety.

Unfortunately, FirstMet.com does not do very well when it comes to search functions. The dating site lacks a photo search function; a keyword search function for finding people based on one fact, searching who is online now for chatting purposes, and it also lacks a new member search. This is unfortunate, because the site has so many great features, but this crucial section is subpar. The only search function it offers is by profile criteria, which is only the bare minimum.

Despite FirstMet.com’s lack of search functions, they mobile usability is fantastic. Not only is the mobile version of the site easy to use and contains all of the same features as the desktop version, but they also offer an app. Even better, the app comes for Android and for iOS, perfect for catering to everyone.

FirstMet.com is stellar on the registration process. Filling out all of your details can get really boring and sometimes take you longer than you’d like, but the site features a Facebook signup, saving you tons of time from needing to fill out basic information about yourself. The registration process is not time consuming and relatively easy, not to mention the usability of the site is very straightforward. A+ on this section.

The male/female ratio is tipped in favor the females though, with a 51/49 ratio. Another thing FirstMet.com has in its favor is the number of members, which is higher than some of its competitors. Overall, the profile quality of the members is pretty good, with few duds scattered around.

There is a FAQ section available for all those first-time questions and they do offer an email address or email form for contacting them. You do not, however, get access to a direct phone number and there is no user forum. These are losses that could have been really helpful, but at least users still have access to help articles.

FirstMet.com luckily offers a free plan, which is something many dating sites don’t do. This is great for giving it a try before committing, but even once you do commit the terms are straightforward and transparent. The price level is pretty average and you can cancel monthly, all things we love to see. Since there is a free plan offered, the site does not offer a trial version.
FirstMet.com Summary
FirstMet.com, overall, does pretty well on what it offers. The biggest upsides are the range in userbase, communication features, registration process and mobile usability. This site is great for females, as there are more males, but as a male user it might put you at a slight disadvantage. We wish the support system and search function was a bit better, but overall FirstMet.com is a good, basic site for meeting people online.
